Biox is a spin-out company from London South Bank University (LSBU), registered in October 2000, with backing from the university (through SBU Enterprises Ltd) and the London Business Innovation Centre (LBIC). Its aim is to exploit innovations from LSBU’s Centre for Biomedical Engineering and Communications (formerly the Photophysics Research Centre), starting with its patented condenser-chamber method for measuring water vapour flux density.

Biox is primarily an R&D company whose main mission is to develop novel instruments for skin bioengineering. Much of the manufacturing is sub-contracted, but design, assembly and quality control are performed in-house.
